Ferries from Stockholm Strandvägskajen

Strandvägskajen is the city end of the Nacka Strand service: 15 minutes out, 20 to 35 minutes back, with 15 departures a week from here and 22 arriving. Sailings run 10:00 to 16:30 outbound and as late as 21:05 inbound.

Strömma works the route on two day patterns. That the return trip takes longer than the outbound, sometimes by twenty minutes, is the ordinary signature of a boat picking up additional calls on its way back into town.

The quay runs along Strandvägen, the boulevard laid out in the 1860s and built up over the following decades into the grandest residential street in Stockholm — reclaimed from what had been a working shoreline of sheds and landing stages. Archipelago steamers have berthed along this stretch ever since, which is why a city-centre address with no industry left still has a working ferry quay in front of it.
