About
About Pitcairn Government’s
The Pitcairn Islands are a British Overseas Territory in the South Pacific, made up of Pitcairn, Henderson, Ducie and Oeno. Only Pitcairn is inhabited — a small volcanic outcrop at 25°04′ south, 130°06′ west, roughly 2,170 km east-southeast of Tahiti and 6,600 km from Panama.
This is a government, not a shipping line
The territory's administration publishes visa applications, immigration rules, the constitution and laws, council minutes and financial information. It does not operate a scheduled ferry service.
How anyone actually reaches Pitcairn
There is no airstrip and no harbour — ships anchor offshore and passengers transfer by longboat through Bounty Bay, which is why arrival depends on the sea state. Access is by a chartered supply vessel sailing from Mangareva in French Polynesia, itself reached by air from Tahiti. Voyages run on a published cycle rather than a timetable, and a visit is measured in the days or weeks until the ship returns.
What the government publishes
Immigration and settlement information for prospective residents, tourism guidance, environmental and marine science material — the waters around the islands form one of the world's largest marine reserves — and the island's products.
