About
About Tauranga
To reach Mangareva in French Polynesia from New Zealand, a single passenger and cargo service departs from Tauranga. The Pitcairn Government’s supply ship, MV Silver Supporter, operates this one route. This is not a conventional passenger ferry but a working vessel with limited berths.
The crossing connects New Zealand's North Island directly to the Gambier Islands. The journey across the South Pacific Ocean takes approximately twelve days, or 288 hours. This service is the only scheduled sea link from this port.
