Hellenic Seaways

Hellenic Seaways is a Greek ferry operator, part of Attica Group, serving the Cyclades, Saronic Gulf (Argosaronic), Sporades and North-East Aegean from Piraeus and other Greek ports. The company runs both conventional car-and-passenger ferries and high-speed vessels, including its Flyingcat catamarans and the classic Flying Dolphin hydrofoils in the Saronic Gulf. It was formed in 2005 through the consolidation of earlier operators (Hellas Ferries, Saronikos Ferries and Sporades Ferries) and became a subsidiary of Attica Group in 2018, joining the same group as the Blue Star Ferries and Superfast Ferries brands.

Island groups & ports served

Hellenic Seaways connects mainland ports with four main Greek island regions, operating year-round on many core routes:

• Departure ports: Piraeus and Lavrio (in Attica) and Volos (Thessaly).
• Saronic Gulf (Argosaronic): Aegina, Poros, Hydra and Spetses — short, frequent hops close to Athens.
• Cyclades: islands such as Syros, Mykonos, Paros, Naxos and Santorini.
• Sporades: Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos, typically served from Volos.
• North-East Aegean: larger islands including Chios, Lesvos (Mytilene) and Samos.

Fleet: conventional & high-speed

The fleet combines slower, high-capacity ships with fast craft for quicker crossings:

Conventional ferries	Car-and-passenger ships (e.g. Nissos Samos, Ariadne) for longer routes carrying vehicles.
Flyingcat catamarans	High-speed passenger catamarans (e.g. Flyingcat 4) serving the Cyclades, Sporades and Saronic islands.
Flying Dolphin hydrofoils	Classic fast hydrofoils historically operating short Saronic Gulf routes.
Aero Highspeed	Newer high-speed catamarans (Aero 1, 2, 3) on frequent Argosaronic services.

Most high-speed vessels are passenger-only, while conventional ferries also carry cars, motorbikes and freight.
