About the ValenciaPalma crossing

The ferry from Valencia to Palma de Mallorca is one of the busiest gateways from the Spanish mainland to the Balearic Islands, linking the port of Valencia with Mallorca's capital across the open Mediterranean. It is a long-haul ro-pax passage, so the ships are large vessels carrying cars, motorhomes and freight as well as foot passengers.

Operators and crossing times

Three companies serve the route, each with slightly different ships and timings:

  • GNV (Grandi Navi Veloci) is typically the quickest at about 7 hours 30 minutes, often with an evening departure around 22:30 arriving in Palma at dawn.
  • Baleària usually takes around 9 hours 30 minutes.
  • Trasmed schedules run to about 10 hours.

Many departures leave Valencia overnight, generally between about 21:45 and 22:30, which lets passengers sleep through the crossing and arrive in Mallorca in the morning; some daytime sailings also operate.

Ports

Valencia's port is large, and the operators board from different quays: Trasmed generally uses the Muelle de Poniente, Baleària the Moll de la Túria, and GNV the Muelle Perfecto Palacio. All sailings arrive at the port of Palma. Because the terminals are some distance apart, confirm your departure quay before travelling.

Frequency and booking

Across the three lines there are roughly a dozen or more weekly sailings each, giving daily or near-daily departures with the densest schedule in summer. On overnight crossings a cabin is well worth reserving, and drivers should book vehicle space early, as car decks fill quickly in July and August and around holiday weekends.
