Turgutreis to Kalymnos Ferry

The crossing from Turgutreis, on the western tip of Turkey's Bodrum peninsula, to Kalymnos in the Greek Dodecanese is one of the shortest of all the Türkiye–Greece island hops. Turgutreis sits closer to the Dodecanese than the port of Bodrum itself, so the water gap here is narrow and the sailing is quick.

The vessel and crossing time

This is a seasonal high-speed catamaran service, run in summer by operators associated with the Bodrum Ferryboat Association (alongside Sky Marine Ferries). It is a passenger-only fast craft — there is no vehicle deck and, because the trip is so short, no cabins. The actual sea passage is typically only around 45 minutes to one hour, making Kalymnos an easy day trip or a stepping stone deeper into the Dodecanese.

When it runs

Sailings operate only during the tourist season, broadly late spring through early autumn, and are often limited to a handful of departures per week rather than daily. Frequency and exact times shift year to year, so this route should always be treated as seasonal and weather-dependent.

Border and documents

Although the hop is short, it is a genuine international crossing and an external EU border — Kalymnos is Greek (and Schengen) territory. All travellers need a valid passport; a national ID card is not sufficient for non-EU nationals, and non-EU visitors should confirm any Schengen visa requirement before booking.

Kalymnos itself is known for its sponge-diving heritage and, more recently, as one of the world's premier rock-climbing destinations, with limestone crags rising straight above the sea.
