Savona to Golfo Aranci Ferry

The Savona to Golfo Aranci ferry links the Ligurian port of Savona, on the Riviera west of Genoa, with Golfo Aranci, a small port on the northeast tip of Sardinia just north of Olbia and close to the Costa Smeralda. It is a purely seasonal holiday route, aimed squarely at summer travellers heading to the beaches of the Gallura coast, and does not run in winter.

Operator and vessels

The crossing is operated by Corsica Sardinia Ferries (the Corsica Ferries / Sardinia Ferries group), recognisable by its distinctive yellow-hulled ships. The vessels are large ro-pax ferries carrying cars, motorhomes, campers, motorbikes and foot passengers, making the route popular with self-drive holidaymakers bringing their own vehicle to the island.

Season, frequency and crossing time

Sailings operate roughly from spring through October, concentrated in the peak summer months, with around three departures a week rather than daily service. Crossing time varies with the vessel and schedule: overnight sailings can run in the region of 10 hours, while some services take substantially longer, up to around 14–15 hours. Overnight departures let you sleep on board and arrive in Sardinia ready for the day.

Booking and onboard

Because capacity is limited to a few sailings a week in a short season, the route fills quickly for July and August, particularly for vehicle spaces and cabins — early booking is strongly advised.
