About the Roxas – Batangas crossing
Important: There is no single direct passenger ferry sailing from Roxas (Dangay Port), Oriental Mindoro, straight across to Batangas. Roxas sits on the southeastern coast of Mindoro and its RoRo pier is oriented toward Panay and Romblon, not toward Luzon. The direct Luzon–Mindoro crossings dock instead at the island's northern ports: Calapan, Puerto Galera and Abra de Ilog.
What actually runs from Roxas, Oriental Mindoro
From Roxas (Dangay) Port, operators such as Starlite Ferries and Montenegro Lines sail south and east to Caticlan and Buruanga in Aklan (the gateway to Boracay, about 3 hours) and to Odiongan on Tablas Island, Romblon. These form part of the Western Nautical Highway, not a Batangas link.
How to reach Batangas from Roxas
To get from Roxas to Batangas you combine an overland trip across Mindoro with a northern RoRo crossing:
- Roxas to Calapan by van or bus (roughly 2–3 hours along the Strong Republic Nautical Highway), then the frequent Calapan–Batangas RoRo (Starlite, Montenegro, FastCat) across the Verde Island Passage in about 2 to 2.5 hours.
- Alternatively, cross via Abra de Ilog to Batangas (Montenegro, roughly 2.5–3.5 hours), reached overland from Roxas.
