About the Rafina – Marmari crossing
Rafina to Marmari crosses the strait from Attica to southern Evia — a short hop that replaces a long drive north through Chalkida and back down the island.
Olympian Ferries sails it up to four times a day on the Evia Star. The first boat leaves Rafina at 08:30 every day except Sunday, when it is 10:00; the last is 19:30 midweek, 21:00 on Fridays and 22:30 on Sunday nights — timed for weekenders heading home. Saturday adds a midday 12:00.
The fare is a flat €12 per passenger, €27 for a standard car, €30 for a larger one, and €8–11 for a motorbike. Children 5–10 pay half and under-fives go free. Rafina is 25 minutes from Athens airport by road, which makes this the practical way onto Evia for anyone flying in. Timetables change between the late-June and late-August blocks.
