About
About Marmari
Marmari is a small harbour on the southern tip of Evia, facing Attica across a narrow strait. It is the island's practical front door from Athens: the alternative is driving north to Chalkida and then the length of Evia back south, several hours instead of one.
Olympian Ferries runs the crossing to Rafina up to four times a day on the Evia Star, with the first boat out at 07:00 for commuters and the last Sunday sailing back from Rafina at 22:30. A passenger ticket is a flat €12, a car €27–30.
The town itself is a low-key resort with a long beach — Megali Ammos — and tavernas along the front; Karystos and the slopes of Mount Ochi are half an hour away. Rafina at the other end is 25 minutes from Athens airport, which makes Marmari an unusually easy island landfall for anyone flying in.
