About the Port Angeles (arrive 20 min ahead for customs clearance)Victoria (arrive 20 min ahead for customs clearance) crossing

Five sailings a day from Port Angeles on Washington's Olympic Peninsula to Victoria on Vancouver Island, departing 08:20, 12:45, 14:00, 17:15 and 21:30. The crossing takes 90 minutes across 22.59 nautical miles of the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

You are leaving the United States

This is a border crossing, and the identity rules are stricter than for a domestic flight. A REAL ID is not accepted. You need a passport, a U.S. Passport Card, a NEXUS card, or an Enhanced Driver's Licence from one of eight specific states and provinces — and the physical document, not a photo of it. See Black Ball Ferry Line for the full list before you drive to the terminal.

Two different check-in deadlines

Reserved vehicles must be at the terminal 60 minutes before departure; foot passengers 30 minutes. For the 08:20 that is 07:20 and 07:50 respectively. Missing the vehicle deadline can cost you the reservation, and the next boat is over four hours later.

Where it lands

The Coho berths in Victoria's Inner Harbour, in the middle of the city rather than at a distant terminal — you step off within walking distance of the Empress and the Parliament buildings.

Fares

Adult $25 one way, child (5–11) $12.50, bicycles carried free, a car and driver $88 up to 18 feet. Reserving a vehicle online costs $12 against $16 by phone.
