About the Krakhella kai – Skjerjehamn kai crossing
Monday is the day this route does not run. The rest of the week splits into two sheets — Tuesday through Saturday on one, Sunday alone on the other — for six sailings in total.
Two departures, 09:53 and 18:18, cover 11.3 nautical miles in 19 to 24 minutes.
Krakhella is on Solund's mainland-facing side and Skjerjehamn is an old trading post in Gulen, on the north side of the Sognefjord's mouth. Skjerjehamn's quay carries a bust of King Olav V that was originally intended for Bergen and ended up here after a public argument about where it belonged — an unusually specific piece of coastal history for a landing this size. The trading post itself dates from the seventeenth century and served shipping entering the Sognefjord.
