About the Île de BatzRoscoff crossing

The first boat off the island leaves at 07.45, and in the low season that is not a tourist sailing — it is the one that gets islanders to appointments, deliveries and school on the mainland. The return crossing to Roscoff takes about fifteen minutes and runs every day of the year.

How many boats, and when

Ten departures a day from 07.45 to 18.30 in spring (1 April – 5 July) and autumn (1 September – 14 October); twenty-five a day from 07.30 to 19.30 between 6 July and 31 August. Winter service has been cut back to a first and last sailing while the estacade is being worked on, and the early 07.45 does not run on Sundays or public holidays — worth knowing if you are staying on the island and have a train to catch.

Arriving at Roscoff

Where you land depends on the tide: the new quay at high water, the end of the long causeway pier at low water, which adds a 600-metre walk before you reach the town. Roscoff's mainline station and the Brittany Ferries terminal for Cork and Rosslare are both a short distance from the harbour, so the island connects to Ireland and to the French rail network through the same small port.

Practicalities

The €11 adult ticket is a return, so you will normally already hold the outbound half. Bicycles are €18 return and travel on deck; cargo bikes are not carried at all. No card payment on board.

Vehicles, pets & onboard

  • Six launches of 96–140 seats
  • Bicycles and dogs carried for a fee
  • Covered saloon and open upper deck
  • Bay of Morlaix and Château du Taureau cruises
  • Group formulas for schools, associations and companies

Onboard facilities and vehicle, pet and luggage policies vary by operator and vessel; confirm details with the operator before booking.
