About the Île d'Yeu – Fromentine crossing
Leaving the island is the half of the journey islanders actually plan around. Yeu Continent's August 2026 calendar puts four departures out of Port-Joinville: 08.00 and 09.00 in the morning, 17.30 and 18.30 in the evening, each reaching the mainland terminal in about 35 minutes.
Why the sailings come in pairs
The two morning slots an hour apart, and the two evening ones, are not duplicates. Together they carve out a working day on the continent — off Yeu by eight, back on the last boat — and the second departure takes the overflow when the first fills. Miss the 18.30 and there is nothing later; you are on the island until morning.
This leg is usually already paid for
Yeu Continent sells return tickets only, so anyone who booked from the mainland has the crossing back on the same reservation. There is no separate one-way fare to buy at Port-Joinville. Residents and holders of the annual continental card travel on the reduced return rate rather than a per-crossing price.
The times move
These are the August figures and they do not carry over. The company issues a separate timetable for every single date of the year, because the Fromentine channel is tidal: departures from Port-Joinville swing by hours between seasons, and in winter the first boat can cast off before six in the morning.
