About
About Fromentine
Fromentine is the mainland terminal for Île d'Yeu, a gare maritime in the commune of La Barre-de-Monts on the Vendée coast, at the foot of the bridge to Noirmoutier. It exists almost entirely for the island crossing.
What leaves from here
Yeu Continent sails to Port-Joinville in about 35 minutes on the catamarans Pont d'Yeu and Châtelet, or an hour on the mixed cargo ship Insula Oya III. Departure times are published date by date across the year and shift with the tide in the Fromentine passage, so two consecutive Mondays rarely look alike.
Arriving by car
There are car parks at the terminal, and most people use them: vehicles cross only on the cargo ship, and Île d'Yeu is small enough to cycle. Bicycles, scooters and surfboards have their own fares.
