About the Dragsvik ferjekai – Hella ferjekai crossing
Dragsvik and Hella are two corners of a three-way ferry, not a simple shuttle. One service links Hella, Vangsnes and Dragsvik across the Sognefjord, and this leg — the shortest of the three — crosses the mouth of the Fjærlandsfjorden. It carries Riksvei 13. Fylkesveg 55 is the road you join at Dragsvik if you carry on west along the fjord; it is not the road that rides the boat.
Forty-seven sailings and a single pattern
There is no weekday-versus-weekend split here at all. All 47 departures run every day, from 00:15 through to 23:05, with the crossing timetabled at 10 minutes. That is an unusually flat schedule for a Norwegian fjord link — the same service on a Sunday in January as on a Tuesday in July.
The boats on the triangle
Norled works the three-way service with battery-hybrid vessels of about 82 metres, each rated for 80 cars — or ten articulated lorries — and 296 passengers. On this leg capacity is rarely what limits you; the timetable is.
Two roads leave the Dragsvik quay
Fv55 runs west along the Sognefjord, and Fv613 climbs north over Gaularfjellet. The second is a mountain road and is closed in winter — a detail that catches out drivers planning a loop from a map that shows the road but not the season.
