About the Baie-Comeau – Matane crossing
Southbound from the Côte-Nord, this two-and-a-half-hour crossing drops you at Matane on the Gaspé Peninsula, which is the practical starting point for a circuit of the Gaspésie — Route 132 runs from there around the peninsula to Percé and the Forillon headland. The alternative by road is a very long way around the head of the St. Lawrence. The Société des traversiers du Québec operates it all year with a vehicle-carrying ship, and demand is heaviest in the summer touring season and around holidays, when the small number of daily sailings fills well in advance.
