Ferries from Skrova hurtigbåtkai

Skrova hurtigbåtkai is the express-boat quay on Skrova, a small, low-lying island in the Vestfjord just off Svolvær on the Lofoten side. Sometimes called Lofoten's whaling island for its fishing and whaling heritage, Skrova is home to only a few hundred people and has no bridge, so the boat is the island's link to the outside world.

From this hurtigbåtkai the express passenger boat connects Skrova to Svolvær in one direction — a very short hop of only around 10 minutes into Lofoten's main town — and, in the other, across the open Vestfjord toward the mainland at Skutvik, continuing on to Bogøy, Nordskot, Helnessund and ultimately Bodø on the NEX2 route. The service is run for Nordland fylkeskommune under the Reis Nordland brand, and tickets are bought through the Reis app or the Entur app rather than paid at an AutoPASS ferry booth. It operates year-round, with a fuller timetable in the summer season when visitor traffic to the island is highest.

Skrova itself is a compact, colourful fishing community with a café, a beach and steep little hills for views over the Vestfjord — an easy, car-free day trip from Svolvær precisely because the express boat makes the crossing so quick. Anyone arriving with a vehicle should note there is a separate car-ferry service and quay; the hurtigbåtkai handles passengers only. Because the Svolvær leg is so short, Skrova is one of the most accessible of Lofoten's inhabited outer islands, and the express boat's frequent hops make it feasible to visit for a few hours and be back in Svolvær by evening. Check the timetable closely, though, as departures are spaced through the day rather than continuous, and confirm whether your intended sailing continues all the way to Skutvik and the mainland or turns back toward town.
