About
About Ithaca
The 5.9 nautical miles to Cephalonia are worked on two calendars that barely overlap. Ionian Sea Ferries runs the M/F Ionion Pelagos year-round — 08:15 Tuesday to Saturday, 15:45 Monday to Saturday, 13:30 and 20:45 on Sundays, all of them 30 minutes. Levante Ferries adds sailings only between 10 July and 13 September.
The result is a lopsided count: 27 arrivals a week against 14 departures. That is not a boat going missing — the year-round operator's return leg simply has no entries, so the summer company carries the whole outbound record with its 07:40 and 17:10 departures.
Ithaca is Odysseus's island, and the pier most sailings use is Piso Aetos, on the narrow waist between the two halves of it. There is no town there — just a road climbing away from the water in both directions, which is why the crossing feels shorter than the journey.
