IonianSea Ferries is not a single company. It is a consortium of five ferries operating under one name — among them Agios Gerasimos, Ainos and Vasos K. — run from an office in Lixouri on Kefalonia.

Its core business is a crossing inside one island

The consortium’s year-round work is the link between Argostoli and Lixouri, the two main towns of Kefalonia, which face each other across a gulf. The road between them runs the long way round the water. That crossing is not in our data, but it is the reason the operator exists and the reason it has five ships.

What we do hold: Ithaca and Zakynthos

Cephalonia to Ithaca runs four times a day at 30 minutes, from 08:15 to 20:45. Cephalonia to Zakynthos takes 80 minutes, twice daily at 07:30 and 18:00. These are the inter-island links that let you move through the Ionians without returning to the mainland at Kyllini or Patras.

The Ithaca hop is short enough to be a bus

Thirty minutes, four times a day, running from early morning to nearly nine at night. That is a frequency and a span that make Ithaca genuinely reachable as a day trip from Kefalonia — unusual in the Ionians, where most island-to-island connections are once-daily or seasonal.

Day masks vary on the Ithaca run

The four Ithaca sailings do not all run on the same days: some carry a Monday-to-Saturday pattern, others a Sunday-only one. On a route with an eight-o'clock first boat and a nine-o'clock last one, that is easy to overlook and expensive to get wrong.

A consortium is a different kind of operator

Five ships under a shared name means the vessel on your sailing may belong to a different owner from the one on the return. In practice this shows up as variation in the boats themselves — age, comfort, deck space — rather than in the service. It also means the brand is more stable than any individual ship in it.
