Ferries from Florø terminal

Florø is the westernmost town on the mainland anywhere in the Nordic countries, and its terminal radiates 70 active sailings to ten island quays — most of which get two boats and one of which gets eight.

⚠ Ten destinations, and most of them are two boats

The headline number flatters the network. Villevik and Færøyna are frequent five-minute hops; everything beyond them runs a handful of times and Askrova runs once. Getting to Kinn and back in a day depends entirely on which two sailings those are.

Check both legs before you commit. There is no road alternative to any of these islands.

Kinn

The island west of the town has a stone church from around the 12th century standing alone under a cleft mountain, and an outdoor play performed beside it each June. It is the reason most visitors take a boat out of Florø at all — and it has 2 sailings.

The town

9,024 people on 6.45 km², founded in 1860 as a herring port. It is a working harbour — fishing, offshore supply, shipyards — with a herring museum, painted wooden houses along the quay and a Hurtigruten call.

It is not a fjord tourism town and does not pretend to be. The airport is a few minutes from the centre.

Season

Year round. The outer runs are exposed to open Atlantic weather and are cancelled more often than the inner ones.
