Denman Island West is the first of three stages to Hornby Island, and its 9 free parking spaces with a 48-hour limit are the only ones on the whole chain worth mentioning — Buckley Bay opposite has none at all.
The crossing
Denman Island West to Buckley Bay takes about 10 minutes, with 26 sailings and 52 across the terminal in both directions. Operated by BC Ferries, non-bookable, fares paid on board.
⚠ Most of this traffic is not stopping on Denman
Hornby Island is reached by landing here, driving about 15 minutes across Denman to Gravelly Bay, and taking a second ferry. The two timetables are separate and not designed to connect.
In July that middle road is the busiest thing on the island, and the queue at Gravelly Bay is formed by people who made this crossing an hour earlier.

9 spaces, free, 48-hour limit. Against 52 sailings that is a token provision, and it is meant for islanders rather than visitors.
Denman itself
Farms, forest, a small commercial centre near this terminal, and a shoreline of sandstone and pebble beaches. Fillongley Provincial Park is on the east side, on the way to Gravelly Bay.
It is quieter than Hornby and gets a fraction of the summer traffic, most of which is passing through.
Season
