NLG

Navigazione Libera del Golfo (NLG) is an Italian ferry operator in the Bay of Naples, best known for fast passenger boats between Naples, Sorrento and Capri. A historic Neapolitan company with more than 80 years of operation, NLG specialises in high-speed, foot-passenger crossings serving the gulf's islands and the Amalfi Coast. It carries passengers only — there is no vehicle deck.

Routes served

NLG's core network links the mainland to the island of Capri and, seasonally, the Amalfi Coast. Its most frequent services are the short, high-turnover Capri crossings, supplemented by warm-weather coastal links.

• Naples ⇄ Capri — the flagship route, roughly a 48-minute fast crossing from the Molo Beverello terminal.
• Sorrento ⇄ Capri — the quickest hop, about 25 minutes.
• Amalfi Coast (seasonal) — links serving Positano, Amalfi and Salerno, typically running spring through autumn.
• Ischia and other Gulf of Naples connections.
• Beyond the gulf, NLG also operates seasonal services to the Pontine Islands (Ponza) and the Tremiti Islands.

Fleet & fast craft

NLG runs an all-fast fleet built for speed and frequency rather than vehicle capacity. It is composed mainly of high-speed hydrojet monohulls alongside a catamaran, with vessels named for their destinations (for example Capri Jet, Sorrento Jet, Amalfi Jet and Ischia Jet). Boats are foot-passenger only, with air-conditioned seating and onboard amenities; there are no cabins and no car transport.

Seasonality

Capri services run year-round with reduced winter frequencies, intensifying sharply in the peak summer season. The Amalfi Coast routes are seasonal, concentrated in the spring-to-autumn tourist window, while island connections such as the Tremiti and Pontine services are likewise summer-focused.

Tickets can be purchased directly through NLG's official website, at port ticket offices, and via major ferry-booking platforms. Because the Capri crossings and summer Amalfi Coast sailings sell out quickly in high season, advance online booking is recommended, especially for July and August departures.
