Havila

Havila Voyages is one of only two companies officially entrusted by the Norwegian Government to operate the historic Norwegian Coastal Express route between Bergen and Kirkenes. It began sailings in 2021 with a fleet of four modern, environmentally focused cruise ferries — Havila Capella, Castor, Polaris and Pollux — carrying passengers, mail and goods along Norway's coast much as the route has done for over 130 years.

The line is one of Norway's most celebrated journeys, threading the fjords past mountains, harbours and coastal villages, with frequent chances to see the Northern Lights. Havila's ships are notable for their large battery packs: they can sail for up to four hours with zero emissions through sensitive areas such as the World Heritage-listed Geirangerfjord, and otherwise run on LNG — cutting CO2 emissions by roughly 35% and NOx by around 90% compared with equivalent vessels on the route.

Havila Voyages is part of the family-owned Havila Group, founded by Per Sævik and headquartered in Fosnavåg on Norway's west coast. Its first ship, Havila Capella (maiden voyage December 2021), won the Next Generation Ship Award at Nor-Shipping 2022.
