About
About Gulf Islands National Seashore
The Gulf Islands National Seashore ferry is not a route. It is a circuit, it runs three times a day, and every single sailing in our data falls on a Saturday.
Read the times and the loop appears
A boat leaves Pensacola at 09:00 and reaches Pensacola Beach an hour later. It leaves Pensacola Beach at 10:00 for Fort Pickens, another hour. Then Fort Pickens back to Pensacola at 11:00, 45 minutes. Three legs, one boat, a round trip of just under three hours — repeated at 13:00 and 15:00.
Saturday only, which is the whole story
All nine departures carry the same day mask. This is not a transport link with a reduced weekend service; it is a weekend-only visitor service with no weekday equivalent at all. If you are planning a Fort Pickens trip by water on any other day, this operator cannot help you — the fort is also reachable by road along Fort Pickens Road from Pensacola Beach.
The return leg is quicker than the outbound
Fort Pickens back to Pensacola takes 45 minutes against 60 for each of the outbound legs. That is because it runs direct across the bay rather than calling at Pensacola Beach on the way — so the circuit is not symmetrical, and the fastest way back is also the only way back.
Three windows on the island, and they are fixed
With departures at 09:00, 13:00 and 15:00 from Pensacola, the amount of time you get at Fort Pickens is decided by which sailing you take rather than by choice. The last circuit of the day is the one to check most carefully, because there is nothing after it.
The park’s own ferry page is no longer where it was
We could not reach a live ferry page on the National Park Service site for this seashore at the expected address. Seasonal park ferry services in the United States are frequently suspended, re-tendered or discontinued, and a Saturday-only pattern is what a service looks like shortly before or after such a change. Confirm with the park before travelling rather than relying on these times.
