About
About Farte
Farte is the public transport brand of Telemark in southern Norway, running the buses of the Grenland towns and, on the water, the little ferries that thread the Kragerø archipelago — one of the prettiest stretches of the Norwegian south coast.
Ferries through the Kragerø skerries
From the harbour town of Kragerø, small car and passenger ferries fan out among a maze of low, pine-clad islands — Skåtøy, Tåtøy, Gumøy, Bærøy and out to Jomfruland, the long sandy island that is now a national park. Many of these islands are car-light or car-free, so the ferry is how residents and summer visitors alike reach their cabins and beaches. Further north, the Brevik–Sandøya ferry crosses the Eidangerfjord in the Grenland district.
One ticket for bus and boat
The ferries share Farte's zoned ticketing with the region's buses, bought in the Farte app or on board. In summer the Kragerø boats run at their busiest, turning an ordinary ticket into the key to a day among the skerries.
