Dodekanisos Seaways connects eighteen islands across the southeastern Aegean with just three ships. That ratio is the whole story: nothing here runs daily, and the day of the week decides what is reachable.

Three vessels, eighteen destinations

The fleet is two high-speed catamarans — Dodekanisos Express and Dodekanisos Pride — plus the passenger and vehicle ferry Panagia Skiadeni. Between them they serve Rhodes, Symi and Panormitis, Kos, Kalymnos, Leros, Lipsi, Patmos, Agathonisi, Kastellorizo, Halki, Tilos, Nisyros, Arkoi and Astypalaia in the Dodecanese, and Samos, Ikaria and Fournoi in the eastern Aegean.

Every route runs on its own days

Look at what our schedule data actually contains and no two routes share a pattern. Rhodes to Symi has five departures spread across four different day combinations. Kos to Rhodes has six, on five. Kalymnos to Kos has five, again on five separate patterns. There is no such thing as a standard week on this network.

Which means the return leg may not exist

The asymmetry is stark. Rhodes to Kalymnos carries one departure in our data; Kalymnos to Rhodes carries three. Samos to Kos has one against three the other way. On an island network worked by three ships on rotating itineraries, planning a round trip means checking both legs separately — the boat that brought you may not be coming back the way you came.

Times stretch as well as days

Kos to Rhodes is recorded at 125, 130, 140 and 210 minutes across its departures. The gap between the quickest and the slowest is 85 minutes on the same pair of ports, because some sailings run direct and others call at islands on the way. Rhodes to Symi runs 50 to 85 minutes for the same reason.

The long hops reach a different island group

Kos to Samos takes 240 to 295 minutes and Samos to Kalymnos 195. These are the links between the Dodecanese and the eastern Aegean, and they are the ones that make island-hopping between the two groups possible without going back to Piraeus. They are also the sparsest, so they are the legs to book around rather than assume.

Day trips are a product, not a by-product

The company markets structured day trips from Rhodes and Samos, which explains some of the timetable’s shape: an early outbound and a late return on the same day, on specific days of the week, sized so that a visitor gets several hours ashore. If a departure pattern looks odd for a transport service, it is often because it was built as an excursion.
