About
About Alilaguna
Alilaguna runs Venice's water buses between Marco Polo Airport, the historic centre and the lagoon islands. Lines are identified by colour, and which one you want depends entirely on where you are staying.
The airport lines
- Blue Line — the long way round the north and east: Murano, Fondamente Nove, Ospedale, Lido, Arsenale, San Zaccaria, San Marco, Zattere, Giudecca and on to Tronchetto and the railway station.
- Orange Line — up the Grand Canal instead: Madonna dell'Orto, Guglie, San Stae, Rialto, Sant'Angelo, Cà Rezzonico, Santa Maria del Giglio.
- Red Line — summer seasonal, a shorter run via Murano and the Lido to San Marco.
If your hotel is near the Rialto, the Orange Line drops you at the door; the Blue Line would take you the long way round the island.
Fares
A single between the railway station and San Marco, or San Marco and Murano, is €10; a return €18. Timed tickets cover the whole network — 24 hours €40, 48 hours €60, 72 hours €80 — including airport transfers, excluding the Green Line, and they can only be bought at ticket offices, not online.
With a Venice Unica or IMOB card the same journeys cost far less: €10 airport to Venice or the Lido, €5 airport to Murano, €5 between Venice, the Lido and Murano.
Luggage and children — read this before you pack
Every ticket includes one large bag and one item of hand luggage. Each additional piece costs €4, which adds up quickly for a family arriving from the airport.
Children under 6 travel free with a fare-paying adult, and pushchairs are carried free — but you must be able to prove the child's age with a document. Without one, a full fare is charged.
The other two lines
The Green Line is an excursion rather than transport — Murano, Torcello and Burano from €25. The Pink Line connects Mestre (Terminal San Giuliano) with Fondamente Nove and San Giobbe from €8, the cheap way in if you are sleeping on the mainland.
