Africa Morocco Link (AML) is one of the main ferry operators on the Strait of Gibraltar, Morocco's busiest sea gateway to Europe. Founded in 2016, it is today jointly owned by Morocco's CTM (51%) and Sweden's Stena Line (49%), which came in as partner in 2024.
Crossing the Strait
Its flagship route runs from Tanger Med to Algeciras in Spain, joined in 2024 by a fast-ferry link from Tanger Ville to Tarifa. The crossings are short — under an hour and a half on the main line — but their busiest moment is the summer Operation Marhaba, when huge numbers of Moroccans living in Europe return home and AML charters extra ships to add capacity.
Fleet and fares
The ro-pax fleet includes Morocco Star and Morocco Sun plus vessels provided through the Stena Line partnership. Tickets for foot passengers and vehicles are sold in euros and dirhams through the operator's booking system, varying by season and demand.
