Routes: Taşucu–Kyrenia and Mersin–Famagusta

On the Taşucu–Kyrenia route, Filo Denizcilik runs two kinds of vessel side by side: Filo Jet, a high-speed passenger craft with a scheduled crossing of around 2–2.5 hours, and Beşparmak, a conventional Ro-Pax ferry that also carries vehicles, sailing overnight and taking noticeably longer. The Mersin–Famagusta route is served by conventional Ro-Ro ferries only, with no fast-craft option; sailing time varies by vessel and conditions, so check the current schedule rather than assuming a fixed duration. Both routes run most days of the week, with each typically pausing for one day.

Choosing the fast boat or the conventional ferry

If you just need to get to Northern Cyprus quickly as a foot passenger, Filo Jet is the faster option on the Taşucu–Kyrenia route. If you're bringing a vehicle, or prefer a slower overnight crossing, the conventional Ro-Pax service is the one to book — Mersin–Famagusta only offers this type of crossing either way.

Bringing a vehicle

Vehicles are carried on the conventional ferry services on both routes. Drivers should be ready with valid ID or a passport, and — because this crossing connects mainland Turkey with Northern Cyprus — some additional paperwork specific to this border, such as an entry permit for the vehicle and exit customs documentation, along with proof of insurance. If someone other than the registered owner is driving, a power of attorney is typically required. Tickets, fares and booking

Tickets can be booked online at filodenizcilik.net, through the company's mobile app, or at an agency in any of the four port cities. Both single and open return tickets are available, and fares are split into passenger categories (adult, student, child) and vehicle categories (car, SUV, van, motorcycle and others), priced by the vehicle type listed on its registration. Fares change seasonally, so check the current price directly when booking rather than relying on an old quote.

ID and travel documents

Turkish citizens can travel on this route using a chip-enabled ID card, with a passport accepted as an alternative.
