About the Torcello – Mazzorbo crossing
Four-tenths of a nautical mile at five minutes, 76 sailings a week, eleven departures between 07:00 and 22:00 — the quieter of Torcello's two connections and the shorter one.
Two day patterns cover it. Against the 96 weekly sailings on the Burano leg, the difference marks which of the neighbours actually generates traffic.
Mazzorbo is joined to Burano by a wooden footbridge, so the boat is not the only way between those two — but it is the only way to reach Torcello, which has no bridge to anywhere. Mazzorbo is now better known for a walled vineyard replanted with Dorona, a native Venetian grape nearly lost after the 1966 flood drove salt water through the lagoon's gardens.
