Tánger Med to Sète Ferry

The Tanger Med to Sète ferry links northern Morocco with the port of Sète on France’s Occitanie coast, west of Marseille and close to Montpellier. The route is operated by Grandi Navi Veloci (GNV), which has long run the Sète–Tanger corridor as a direct, no-frills long-haul crossing favoured by travellers heading to southwest France and northern Spain.

Crossing time

This is a genuine multi-night passage. Transit generally runs between about 39 and 48 hours depending on the ship and on weather and sea conditions, so plan for one to two nights aboard. It is a slower, more direct alternative to the Marseille line and appeals to those whose onward destination sits in the Languedoc, Toulouse or the Pyrenees corridor.

GNV operates around 4 sailings per week on this route, typically with afternoon departures. As with all the Morocco–France lines, capacity and frequency rise during the summer Marhaba season and taper outside it, and exact days and times vary through the year — always confirm the current timetable before booking.

On board and vehicles

The service carries foot passengers and vehicles — cars, motorhomes, caravans and motorcycles. Given the length of the voyage, a cabin is the sensible choice for rest, with seating, catering and shops also available on board. Drivers should arrive early with full vehicle documentation.

This is an international crossing between France (Schengen) and Morocco, so a valid passport is required for every traveller, and non-EU or non-Moroccan nationals should check visa rules. Allow time on arrival at Tanger Med for Moroccan immigration and customs clearance.
