Pula to Venice Ferry

The Pula to Venice ferry is a seasonal, summer-only fast catamaran that turns a long overland detour around the head of the Adriatic into a direct three-and-a-half-hour crossing. It is a passenger-only, international service linking the southern tip of Istria in Croatia with Venice in Italy, and it does not carry cars, motorbikes or bicycles as vehicles.

Operator and vessel

The route is run by fast catamaran operators serving the North Adriatic, principally Venezia Lines, with Adriatic Lines also marketing crossings on the Istria–Venice corridor. These are modern high-speed catamarans carrying roughly 300 passengers, making them by far the quickest way to hop between Istrian ports and Venice compared with driving via Trieste or taking the bus.

Season and frequency

• Summer only: the service typically runs from late spring into autumn, with a 2026 season broadly spanning early June to around 20 September. Outside these months the route does not operate.
• Frequency: in peak summer there are several sailings a week in each direction, commonly up to around five departures per week from the Venice side, timed to allow day trips as well as one-way transfers.
• Crossing time: about 3 hours 30 minutes port to port.

Practical notes

The catamaran docks in central Venice, so you arrive close to the historic core rather than on the mainland. Because it is passenger-only, drivers must leave vehicles behind or use an alternative. Sea conditions in the open North Adriatic can affect the ride and, occasionally, cause cancellations, so allow buffer time if you have onward connections. As a seasonal international crossing, exact dates, times and prices are confirmed each year, so check the operator before booking. Foot-passenger fares typically fall in the region of 79 to 89 euros one way.
