Poreč to Venice Ferry

The Poreč to Venice crossing links the Istrian resort town of Poreč, on Croatia's north-western coast, directly with Venice across the northern Adriatic. It is a seasonal, passenger-only fast catamaran service — there is no year-round or car-ferry alternative on this exact water route, so it exists to move foot passengers and day-trippers rather than vehicles.

Who operates it and how long it takes

The line is run by Kompas, which markets its Adriatic fast-ferry network under the Adriatic Lines brand. Sailings use fast catamarans — the fleet on these Istria–Venice routes has included vessels named Andjela and Prince of Venice. The open-sea crossing takes roughly 2 hours 45 minutes to 3 hours 15 minutes depending on the vessel, sea conditions and whether the sailing calls at another Istrian port first.

When it runs

This is strictly a summer-season service. For 2026 the timetable runs from around early May to mid-October, with roughly five sailings per week at the height of the season — several morning departures from Poreč (some as early as 06:30) and late-afternoon returns from Venice. Outside these months there are no crossings at all, so travellers arriving off-season must route via road or via other Croatian ports.

Practical notes

• Foot passengers only — cars, motorcycles and campers cannot be carried; cabin luggage and, on most sailings, bicycles are accepted.
• This is an international crossing between two countries. Croatia joined the Schengen area in 2023, so EU and Schengen travellers generally cross without routine passport checks, but you should still carry a valid passport or national ID card, and non-EU nationals must travel on a passport.
• Venice arrivals typically dock near the historic centre, making the catamaran a genuine day-trip option from Istria.
