About

About Torri del Benaco

Torri del Benaco is the eastern, Veneto-side terminal of the only vehicle ferry on Lake Garda. Everything it does is the crossing to Toscolano-Maderno, and its timetable is the Maderno one shifted by exactly thirty-five minutes.

Thirty-five minutes behind, all day long

Take any departure from the western shore, add 35 minutes, and you have a departure from Torri. Maderno 08:00 becomes Torri 08:35; Maderno 19:15 becomes Torri 19:50. The reason is mechanical: the boat crosses in thirty minutes and turns round in five. It also means Torri holds the last sailing of the day on this lake, thirty-five minutes after the western pier has finished.

Every run is accessible here — which is not true everywhere

The timetable carries an unusual line: all ferry runs on this crossing are recommended for passengers using wheelchairs. That is a blanket statement, and it is worth noticing because the same operator does not say it on Lake Como, where accessibility is marked run by run and boarding can be refused by the master of the vessel. On Garda the whole service is flagged as suitable.

What a euro buys you and what it costs

Tickets can be bought on board, but with a €1.00 surcharge applied separately to each passenger, each item of luggage and each vehicle. The surcharge is dropped when the ticket office ashore is closed. Fares themselves are outside the operator’s control — they are set by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, which can change them. There is no reservation system: places are capped at the ship’s maximum capacity, so a full boat means waiting for the next one.

Printed in three languages, and the third one explains the market

The timetable is published in Italian, English and GermanFähre, Fahrplan öffentlichen Verkehrs, die Plätze sind auf die maximale Kapazität des Schiffs beschränkt. The operator’s Como ferry sheets carry Italian and English only. Garda draws heavily from Germany, Austria and Switzerland by road, and the document is set up for drivers arriving from the north.

Seventeen departures, seven days a week

Torri del Benaco to Maderno runs 17 times daily from 08:35 to 19:50, on the summer timetable valid 16 May to 4 October 2026. There is no reduced Sunday service and no holiday variant — the same pattern applies every day, which sets this crossing apart from the Como ferry with its two separate documents. The 12:25 is timetabled at 35 minutes rather than 30, and after it the service pauses until 14:00.
