About

About Toscolano-Maderno

Toscolano-Maderno sits on the western shore of Lake Garda and has exactly one ferry service: the vehicle crossing to Torri del Benaco on the eastern shore. It is the operator’s only car-carrying route on this lake, and Maderno is the end that opens the day.

First out at 08:00, last out at 19:15

The 08:00 departure from Maderno is the first sailing of the whole service; nothing moves from Torri until 08:35. At the other end Maderno’s final departure is 19:15, while the last boat of the day leaves the far shore at 19:50. So the western pier both starts earlier and finishes earlier — if you are parked on this side, the last chance to get back is not the last sailing you see advertised.

Seventeen crossings, and one that takes longer

Maderno to Torri del Benaco runs 17 times a day, and sixteen of them are timetabled at 30 minutes. The exception is the 12:25, booked at 35 — arriving 13:00 rather than 12:55. It is the same two piers and the same distance; only that one departure carries the extra five minutes, in both directions.

The ninety-five minute hole in the middle of the day

Departures run every 35 to 40 minutes from morning to evening with a single break: after the 12:25 there is nothing until 14:00. That is a gap of an hour and thirty-five minutes in a service that otherwise never leaves you waiting more than forty. It falls on both shores at the same time, so crossing back during the break is not an option either. Anyone planning a lunch on the opposite side should know the boat is having one too.

The timetable tells you there are two boats

You can work the fleet out from the departure times. A 30-minute crossing plus a five-minute turnaround gives a 35-minute cycle, which means a single vessel could only leave Maderno every 70 minutes. The timetable shows departures 35 to 40 minutes apart all day. Two ships are therefore working the shuttle in opposition — one loading at Maderno while the other loads at Torri — which is also why the printed run numbers alternate between two separate series.

Dates and what is not here

These figures come from the summer ferry timetable, valid 16 May to 4 October 2026. Unlike the Como crossing, there is no separate Sunday document: the same 17 departures run every day of the week. Lake Garda’s passenger ships between Desenzano, Peschiera and Riva are a different service on a different schedule and are not counted on this page.
