Tampi is a landing rather than a town. The buses and vans that meet the boat run south to Dumaguete, about half an hour away, and it is Dumaguete that most passengers are actually travelling to or from — the pier itself is a strip of concrete in the barangay of San José.
The seven daily departures — 05:00, 08:00, 10:30, 14:00, 17:00, 20:00, 23:30 — sit roughly three hours apart across an 18-hour day, each 30 minutes over the Tañon Strait with Maayo Shipping. There is no dense morning peak and no evening cluster; the gaps barely change from one end of the day to the other, and the 23:30 means a late bus into Dumaguete still has a way onward to Cebu.
The strait here is a protected seascape, the largest marine protected area in the Philippines, and dolphins are a routine sight from the deck on the run over.
