About Strömstad
Two sailings a day cross to Norway, each timetabled at exactly 150 minutes. Departures leave Strömstad at 13:00 and 20:05; the boats from Sandefjord go at 09:30 and 17:00. Fourteen crossings a week in each direction, operated by Color Line.
Two and a half hours over the mouth of the Oslofjord makes this one of the shorter international routes in Scandinavia, and the traffic on it is not only travellers — the price difference between Norwegian and Swedish shops has kept this crossing busy for decades.
Strömstad is the last Swedish town before the border, in northern Bohuslän, and it was Norwegian itself until 1658. The Koster islands offshore sit within Sweden's first marine national park, established in 2009 around a deep-water trench that brings cold Atlantic species closer to the coast here than anywhere else in the country.
