Simpnäs is the mainland gateway to Arholma, the northernmost inhabited island of the Stockholm archipelago. The crossing takes 15 minutes, with 26 departures a week and 27 arrivals, running from 06:45 to 22:15.
There is also a route that runs once each way: a single boat to Östersjö at 08:40 on a weekend, and one back at 19:50. Two sailings a week in total.
Arholma was a pilot station and later a coastal artillery post, closed to foreigners until the 1990s; the fortifications are now a museum. Waxholmsbolaget works the crossing under six or seven day patterns. Being the far northern end of the network, the last boat here is genuinely the last — there is no alternative landing within reach.
