About Plymouth
Plymouth is Devon's ferry port and the western end of the English Channel network — the furthest south-west a car ferry sails from England, which makes it the shortest sea route from Britain to Brittany and to northern Spain.
Brittany Ferries runs two services from the Millbay terminal. Roscoff is the frequent one — up to six departures a week, with a 22:00 overnight on Armorique reaching Brittany at 08:00, plus daytime sailings on Pont-Aven. Santander runs twice weekly across the Bay of Biscay, a passage of twenty to twenty-one hours.
The terminal sits at Millbay, ten minutes' walk from the Barbican and the Hoe, with the A38 running north to the M5. This was the port the company was founded to serve: the first Brittany Ferries sailing in 1973 brought Breton vegetables here.
