About
About Number 2 (Apapa) Waterside
There are two jetties called Number 2, one on each bank, and the crossing between them is recorded at zero distance and five minutes. Four sailings a day — 05:00, 09:00, 17:00 and 19:00 — 24 a week in each direction, Monday to Saturday.
A distance the database rounds to nothing is not an error so much as an admission: the two landings are close enough that the figure has no useful precision. The five minutes is real, and covers casting off, crossing and tying up.
This is the Apapa side, in the port district where the wharves, tank farms and container terminals are. The Ajegunle side, a few hundred metres away, is residential and dense. The boat exists because the shortest road between the two is not short at all — and because at five in the morning the road is already full of trucks.
