Landsort is at the southern tip of Öja, the outermost island of the Stockholm archipelago, reached by 40 sailings between 06:35 and 19:47, thirteen to twenty-three minutes from Krokskär. The lighthouse here dates from 1651 and is the oldest in Sweden still in operation. The island has a handful of permanent residents and is a well-known bird migration station. Waxholmsbolaget runs the boats as part of the archipelago's public network. Öja is long and narrow, and the walk from the quay to the lighthouse at the southern point takes most of an hour along the island's single track. Krokskär is the intermediate landing where passengers change between the mainland boat and the outer island vessels.
