About
About Kristiansand
Kristiansand is Norway's main southern ferry port, and Color Line's crossing from here to Hirtshals in Denmark takes three and a quarter hours — five sailings in the timetable between 08:00 and 21:45. This is the shortest sea route between Norway and continental Europe, which is why it carries a steady stream of Norwegians driving south and Danes and Germans driving north. The ships are large, take vehicles and have cabins for the evening departures. The terminal sits beside the city centre, and the E39 runs directly to it. Color Line also runs a Kiel service from Oslo, but the Hirtshals routes are the ones used by drivers, since Hirtshals connects directly to the Danish motorway network.
