Ferries from Granö brygga

One of the legs from Granö takes a single minute. The crossing to Östersjö brygga is recorded at 1 minute — seven sailings a week, from 15:15 to 16:20 — while Arholma, in the other direction, is 10 to 12 minutes away with eight.

Four day patterns cover the Arholma leg and three the short one, with sailings as late as 20:50. A one-minute booking is the timetable's way of saying two landings face each other across a channel narrow enough that the boat is alongside almost as soon as it has cast off.

This is the far north of the Stockholm archipelago, off Arholma island, where Waxholmsbolaget's routes meet the open Åland Sea. Arholma was the last Swedish landfall for sailing ships heading east and carried a pilot station for centuries; the tiny hops between its neighbouring jetties are what a working island group looks like when the water between the pieces is only a few hundred metres wide.
