About

About Aspö Djupvik

Karlskrona is 20 minutes out and 25 back; Hasslö Horn is 10 in both directions. Twenty-one sailings a week on each of the four legs — 84 movements in all — from 09:40 in the morning to 19:00 at night, all on a single day pattern.

Djupvik is the western landing on Aspö — the island's main link to Karlskrona is the car ferry from the other side, so this jetty serves the archipelago rather than the city, and its Karlskrona sailings take a route through the islands rather than straight in.

Aspö guards the western approach to Karlskrona, which is why it carries Drottningskär Citadel, the sea fort begun in the 1680s to close the channel to the naval base. That base has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1998, and the shape of the archipelago's boat routes still follows the defensive geography: the channels a warship could use are the ones the timetable is built around.
