About
About WaterShuttle
WaterShuttle runs one scheduled route — Rotterdam to Kinderdijk, the UNESCO World Heritage windmill landscape — and spends the rest of its time doing something more unusual: providing temporary water links when road and infrastructure projects need them.
Half an hour from the Erasmusbrug to the windmills
Rotterdam Erasmusbrug to Kinderdijk Molenkade and the return each carry 8 departures a day, every day, timetabled here at 35 minutes — the operator advertises 30. Sailings from Rotterdam run 09:10 to 17:20 and back from Kinderdijk 09:45 to 17:55. It is a daylight service built around a visit, not a commute.
No transfers, no parking problem
That is the operator’s own framing and it is the honest reason the route exists. Kinderdijk is awkward to reach from central Rotterdam by road and parking there is constrained; the boat leaves from the Erasmusbrug in the middle of the city and arrives at the Molenkade in the middle of the site. A combination ticket covering the crossing and entry to Kinderdijk is sold as a single product.
The other half of the business is temporary infrastructure
WaterShuttle hires itself out to governments and contractors to run project-based sailings where a road, bridge or tunnel is closed or a site needs additional capacity — from short pilots to long deployments. That is a rare thing to find on a ferry operator’s own pages, and it explains a fleet that would otherwise look oversized for eight departures a day.
Part of Aqualiner
The company trades as WaterShuttle within the Aqualiner Group, based at Lindtsedijk 14 in Zwijndrecht, with a telephone line on +31 85 040 73 33. Charters for organisations and events are quoted individually rather than sold from a price list.
One route in our data, and that is genuinely all of it
Unlike most operators on this site, the single pair listed here is not a fragment of a larger scheduled network. The Kinderdijk run is the operator’s only fixed line; everything else it does is chartered or contracted. So if you are looking for other WaterShuttle sailings, the absence here is the answer rather than a gap.
