About
About Superfast Ferries
Superfast Ferries, part of the Greek Attica Group, runs the Adriatic corridor between Greece and Italy. These are the longest crossings on this page by a wide margin: 1,380 minutes — twenty-three hours — between Patras and Ancona.
Twenty-three hours, and it is meant to be
Patras to Ancona carries four departures between 15:30 and 19:30; the return three, from 16:00 to 19:00. At that length the ship is a hotel with a car deck: you board in the late afternoon, spend a night and a day at sea, and dock the following afternoon. The crossing time is the product, not an overhead.
Bari is six hours shorter
Bari to Patras and back run 1,020 minutes — seventeen hours against twenty-three. Bari sits further south down the Italian coast, so the sea leg is shorter but the drive to or from northern Europe is longer. Choosing between the two ports is a trade between hours at sea and hours on the motorway, and for a driver heading to Germany or beyond, Ancona usually wins.
All of these leave in the late afternoon
Every departure in our data falls between 13:30 and 19:30. That is not a coincidence: an afternoon departure on a seventeen-to-twenty-three-hour crossing produces an arrival in daylight at the far end, which is what freight schedules and driving hours require. There is no overnight-only or morning option on this corridor.
Freight sets the timetable, passengers ride along
The Adriatic corridor is one of the main lorry routes between Greece and the rest of the EU, and the sailing pattern reflects that. It also means these ships are large, the crossings run year round rather than seasonally, and cabin availability in high summer is genuinely constrained — book early or expect deck class.
Four routes here, one corridor
What we hold is the Patras–Ancona and Patras–Bari pairings. Attica Group operates a considerably wider network under this and other brands, including Aegean services that are not in our data at all.
