Skånetrafiken is the public transport authority for Skåne, southern Sweden — buses, regional trains and the ticketing that ties them together. It does not run ferries.

Ivöleden is a state road ferry

The crossing from Barum to Ivön on Lake Ivösjön, northwest of Bromölla, belongs to Färjerederiet and the national road network, not to Skånetrafiken. It is 700 metres, about seven minutes, and free — no ticket is needed or checked. On a route like this you can summon the ferry from the Trafikinfo Färjerederiet app rather than waiting at an empty slipway.

The island had ferrymen long before it had a ferry

Ivön has been settled for something like three thousand years, and for most of that time crossing the lake was your own problem. In the late nineteenth century a skipper named Per Truedsson began carrying people over with colleagues. In 1910 a rower, Nils Andersson, was put under contract to do it reliably. The first motorboat came in 1914, a tug in 1922, and in 1948 the first cable ferry entered service — built of wood, and working until the first steel vessel replaced it in 1957.

The boat is named after a woman who rowed

When the current ferry arrived in 1987 it was named Karna, after Karna Bengtsdotter — a woman who lived on the mainland and rowed people across the lake in the days before any ferry existed. The contracted rower of 1910 has his name in the record; she has hers on the hull.

Where Skånetrafiken tickets do apply

Its tickets are valid on the Landskrona–Ven ferry operated by Ventrafiken, so the authority's part in ferry travel across Skåne is real — just not on Ivösjön.
