Scandlines Schedules 2026

Scandlines runs the two shortest sea crossings between Germany and Denmark, and treats them as motorway links rather than voyages: Puttgarden–Rødby across the Fehmarn Belt at about 45 minutes, and Rostock–Gedser at about 2 hours. Fares start from €66.65.

Built for cars, not for cabins

The proposition is the drive-on continuation of a road journey — "the shortcut to Scandinavia" in the company's own words. Onboard you get food, shopping, free Wi-Fi, playgrounds and meeting rooms, but the crossing is short enough that most passengers stay with the car deck in mind rather than the restaurant.

Two pricing details worth planning around

First, the length surcharge disappears at the right time of day: travel with a motorhome in the evening, at night, or before 08.00 and the surcharge is waived on a Standard ticket. On a long vehicle that is a substantial saving for the price of an early alarm.

Second, combination tickets to Sweden let you book Germany-to-Sweden across two different crossings in one purchase, rather than assembling the legs separately.

Booking and disruption

The company's app sells tickets without handling fees, shows live departure times and stores the booking reference for check-in. Tickets can be rebooked or cancelled through customer services. When things go wrong the company publishes it: after technical problems on the Gedser–Rostock route on 19 July 2026 caused significant delays, it opened a dedicated compensation page for affected passengers.

Scandlines participates in the Sunflower Programme for passengers with non-visible disabilities, and publishes a Green Ambition programme covering its ferry operation on the Fehmarn Belt.
