About

About Magic Sea Ferries

Almost the entire Magic Sea fleet has been built or rebuilt since 2023, which is unusual in Greek coastal shipping. Five vessels work out of Piraeus: the H/S/C Cat I, a 100-metre craft carrying 766 passengers and 125 vehicles after a 2023 rebuild, and four fast passenger catamarans — Magic 1 (39 m, 312 seats, 2023), Magic 2 and Magic 3 (42 m, 343 seats each, both 2024) and Magic 5 (39 m, 312 seats, 2025).

Two networks, not one

In the Saronic Gulf the boats call in sequence at Agia Marina and Aegina town, Agistri, Methana, Poros, Hydra, Spetses and Porto Cheli. Separately the company runs a western Cyclades service — Kythnos, Serifos, Sifnos and Kimolos, marketed as the "Fantastic 4" — with Lavrio as a mainland departure point alongside Piraeus.

Reading a chain timetable

Because the boat calls at successive ports, the figure that matters is your leg rather than the whole run. Piraeus to Poros takes about 55 minutes to an hour and a quarter from €17.00; Poros to Hydra is a 25 to 35 minute hop at €15.60; Spetses to Porto Heli, the ten-minute skip across to the Peloponnese, is €10.00.

Vehicles: it depends which boat

Only the Cat I has a garage. The four Magic catamarans are passenger-only, so whether you can bring a car on a given sailing depends on the vessel, not the route — check the ship before booking if you are driving. All five have a bar, step-free access for disabled passengers and a designated pet area.

Extras worth knowing

The company runs a free bus service to its Piraeus departure gate, publishes a separate "departure points" page because Piraeus is large enough to get lost in, and operates a loyalty scheme, MagicSea CLUB. Web check-in is available online.

Why the Saronic needs fast craft

Hydra bans motor vehicles outright — goods move by mule — and Spetses restricts them heavily. That is why a gulf this small supports both conventional car ferries and a dense network of fast passenger boats: on some of these islands the car is not merely unnecessary, it is not allowed.
